Carley Goodnoe : Balanced Horsemanship
Carley Goodnoe teaches Balanced Horsemanship out of her Evensong Farm in Lancaster SC.Her knowledgeable, experienced, balanced, thorough, and patient approach to the learning process for both horse and human is applicable to any discipline, any breed, any problem, and all levels.
Carley blends her understanding of the horse gained through years of practicing natural horsemanship with a strong background in Dressage, Eventing, and Hunters.She can help horses and humans form safe partnerships of mutual respect and trust-whatever their goals.
Carley is a student of the horse. She strives to get more done with less. She is always refining her horsemanship in order to attain the highest level of trust and athleticism with her horses. She wants the horses she rides to enjoy the work as much as she does.
Evensong Farm
Evensong is a small private training and boarding facility in Lancaster SC and home of Carley Goodnoe Balanced Horsemanship.
At Evensong we provide excellent and experienced care in a healthy horse-centered environment. We have the amenities and riding facilities of a large boarding facility but the calm and quiet of a private home. Our farm is a lifestyle for us. It is our home as well as our business. It is a special place that we love to share so check with us for training and board availability.
Training
Carley can start your young horse, restart your older horse, work with any problem you and your horse may be having or simply take your horsemanship to a higher level whatever your discipline. She has 30 years of experience as a rider and competitor and nearly 20 years of experience as a teacher. Carley teaches other people how to effectively and appropriately communicate with their horses so that they and their horses can enjoy the riding and the work.

A True Partnership
Carley's goal is to give the owner a willing, confident, relaxed, and happy partner in her horse and to give the horse an understanding, thoughtful, effective, and patient partner in his owner. Through thoughtful and perceptive hard work Carley will improve a person's relationship with her horse to that of a true partnership.
A Solid Foundation of Communication
It is crucial to any goal that you have for your horse or for yourself as a rider that you establish a solid foundation of effective communication with your horse. Because you take the time to establish this foundation and communication you can get further with your horse and reach new goals whatever discipline or tack you ride in.
Training the Rider and The Horse
The training for horse and rider are not exclusive. With Carley, both horse and rider will be educated and gain a better understanding of the other. Any interaction a person has with her horse is instilling either good habits or bad habits. A person is either encouraging wanted or unwanted behavior in her horse. Many times both horse and rider mean well and have good intentions but confusion, misunderstanding, fear, and/or distrust have gotten in their way. Your horse requires that you be fair and consistent. He will reward your fairness and consistency with the same as he trusts you more and more.
Examples of Problems that Carley can Help With:
Trailer loading, canter lead problems, pushy on the ground, water crossings, Barn sour, herd bound, won't go, won't stop, doesn't stand to be mounted, rushes jumps, refuses jumps, stiff, resistant, heavy in collection, crooked etc.
Boarding
At Evensong we provide excellent and experienced care in a healthy horse-centered environment. We have limited board and training board spots available. We live on site with our family. Living on site allows Carley to monitor the horses, feed hay as necessary, and make any necessary adjustments in turn-out, blanketing etc. during a day. Carley does all of the feeding and handling of the horses so good ground manners and behavior by the horses is maintained. If a handling issue arises Carley will take the time to work through it. We have ample well maintained rolling pastures. We keep the number of horses on the property low so that we can rotate and rest our pastures and paddocks to avoid overgrazing and mud. We typically have plenty of good pasture and supplement the grass with quality hay. All board is stall board but the time spent in the stall is as short as the season will possibly allow. We will feed any feed at the owner's request. Supplements will gladly be fed but must be provided by the owner.
Facility
- Rolling pastures and grass paddocks
- 5 stall barn centrally located to the pastures, arena, and tack room. Barn was designed with the South Carolina climate in mind and has excellent ventilation and shade. (The barn can be closed up more in the winter when necessary.)
- Indoor Tack Room with hot/cold water, bathroom, and kitchen
- Safe horse fencing (3 board wood and 3 strand electric tape)
- 100ft. x 200ft. Sand arena
- 60ft. sand round pen with 6.5 ft. horse safe panels
- wooded trails and wooded pond
- Room to ride in the pastures and hills outside of the arena
- Maiden and Beginner Novice Cross Country jumps in the pastures
Buckskin Quarter Horse for Sale
Shiloh is a 6 year old 15hh Buckskin QH recently started under saddle. He is:
- He is very friendly, kind, willing, sensible, smart and eager to please.
- He has had excellent handling and an excellent start.
- He is light and soft with great ground manners.
- He is getting experience riding in the fields, in the arena, and on the trails with other horses and on his own.
- Shiloh will be someone's loyal partner for any discipline-English, Western and/or trail riding.
- At this point Shiloh still needs a rider with experience to continue bringing him along and/or further professional training. He is willing and ready to learn more.
- He is barefoot with good feet, up to date on shots, and just had his teeth floated.
- Shiloh is a grandson of Sonny Dee Bar.
